Default how do I connect my device to BIS?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 9860.

When I go into Settings -> Email Accounts -> Internet Mail Account, it connected to the site then gives me the following options:

Yahoo Mail
Gmail
AOL
Windows Live
Other
Create New Address (name@vmobile.blackberry.com)

The problem is none of the above options allow me to add my @vmobile.blackberry.com email address to my device?? WHY?? I tried to go through the create new email but it tells me my address is already taken... (SIGH)

Anyone else had any luck with this?

Thanks
Andrew

Do you have a BlackBerry data plan on your account?

If you try to create a new @carrier.blackberry.net address and it tells you that the name is already taken... then you need to pick a new name. Someone else already chose the one you're trying to create.

Its okay I called Virgin Mobile and they fixed it. Somehow when I plugged my old SIMM int my 9860 it did ask me to update my PIN/IMEI number on my BIS account (that typical mesage you get) I said yes and got 4 or 5 emails from my BIS account a couple of days later and everything stopped then.

The Tech a VM noticed my new phone had some ghost account on the BIS server and that my original account was still associated to my old device. After about half an hour of trying to get it work, he deleted the ghost account and added my PIN/IMEI number to my correct account and held but none of the passwords he sent me worked, he just gave up and nuked my account and took it back then setup everything and validated it.

Why this happen in the first place I have no idea, and he had no idea as well.

But its all good now.

A.

Never underestimate your carrier's ability to bork your plan. And never underestimate their ability to give you the runaround while insisting it's your fault instead of theirs. Seems like Virgin did the right thing and got you sorted pretty quick. Kudos to Virgin!
