Default Text Message Issues

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all. I've had two people in the last two days tell me that the TMs I was sending were coming through garbled. And by garbled I mean this:

I send:
Hey! How are you?

They receive:
H@e@y@! H@o@w@ a@r@e@ y@o@u@?@

Anybody else see this happening? I'm flummoxed!

Wirelessly posted (BOLD)

Sounds like it might be a carrier issue. If they are getting it, I don't believe that its your phone. But I could be wrong. I'd call 611 and see what they say

*SOLVED* In case anyone else has this problem, I thought I'd report the fix. Under Options>SMS Text. Data coding needed to be turned from UCS2 to 7bit. Somehow it got changed. After changing it back and doing a soft reset, everything is back to normal!

That's odd. Does it make a difference if you send messages to yourself to test? I just switched mine from 7 bit to UCS2 and, what I noticed, was that with UCS2, it limited how many characters I could type before I sent it. With 7 bit, there was no limit (not sure how the recipient is receiving them though - if it's multiple messages or just one big one).

Do I have to do a soft or hard reset each time I switch the settings to be sure? I also noticed that the Network to send over should be CS (PS does not work for me on T-Mobile). :(

I tried to find that on my BB and couldn't seem to locate that. It may be because I have an 8330. I don't know.
