Default Blackberry Curve 89000 w/non-functioning keypad

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Curve 8900 with a non-functioning keypad. The water damage stickers are fine and show NO water damage.

Here are the steps I've taken to correct the problem:

1) I disassembled the phone and cleaned under the keypad membrane with alcohol.
2) I installed a new membrane for the 8900.
3) I wiped the phone with JLCMDR and reinstalled the latest BB operating system.

It is still not reading the keypad. The phone will turn on, the display is fine, it has a signal, it can be charged and is recognized when connected to a PC.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to do to try and fix this phone?

Cheers!

check the connections and make sure everything is clean. Something is not making contact or the electronics supporting the pad is defective.

Update; Did you replace the keypad or just clean the back? the keypad can be replaced if not.

I replaced the white plastic membrane and cleaned underneath it. You're right though it could be the supporting pad. Do you know of a reputable place to order from? I'm pretty handy with electronics and think I could do that repair myself too.

Thanks for the link. I like the site but I'm not sure I'm finding what I need.

I can't post a link but all I can find when searching for "8900 keypad" are the membrane replacements and actual keyboard (I have a new keyboard and membrane). Should I be searching for something else? Thanks again and thanks for your time!
