Default BB off for two months-how to avoid 800 emails at once?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey BB Forums,

I've been abroad in Panama City (wonderful place, highly recommended) for the last two months, and have had my trusty Tour sitting with the battery yanked out for the entire time. I've been keeping up with my email on my notebook, and have received quite a few emails even during the slow summer period.

I assume that the second I turn on my phone, it's going to start pulling down every email I've gotten for the last two months all at once. Is there any way to cleverly avoid this? It would be really nice to not have my device seize up for hours getting two months of email at the same time.

Thanks much!

I would think that with the battery out for 2 monrths, the device will have lost all the settings. Mail should start from the time you setup again.

Wirelessly posted

BES or BIS? I would delete the emails from the server using the web interface.

If BIS, and you've already dealt with the emails, the BB will only pull emails that are unread sitting in your inbox.

Log into your ISPs webmail system and delete all of the email on the server. Then it should not be pushed to the BB

If youxxx8217;re on a BES from work You might send a box of chocolates to the BES admin and plead for help.
I had my BES BB off for 2 weeks and received about 600 emails. The next time I made the call and it prevented the overload. You can also just let it download and then clear it.

If its a BIS, just delete the email account from the BIS. Turn on the berry. Then re add the email. It will only push from when it was added again going forward. (it wont push last weeks when you add it today)
