The Cingular/AT&T 8800 is most definately not black. It's a dark blue.

Could you post pictures of your phone. I would like to see how the keypad looks with the black housing.

Thanks

I think I am shying away from it since I am afraid the dark blue keypad will look whack with the black housing. And, in pictures on a computer...I will bet that yo can't tell much difference anyway since Cingular's blue is sush a dark navy.

That's pretty much what I decided. My black housing is in the bottom drawer where it will stay.

Pics would be nice.. also of the list thats mentioned above in the kit, i'm guessing part of that is the screen cover too? So in effect you're replacing everyone on the outside except for the keyboard. Could someone confirm?

Untrue. The kit has all housing & all buttons (except keypad) + screen & pearl / Battery door etc.

If fact the screen is connected to the Pearl track ball and is connected to the keypad surround. The Original one I took off the device is the same.

It would be pointless showing you a photo, as it just now looks like a new phone.

You get a two tools in the pack, T6 screwdriver (pointless as the screws are smaller than that & some sort of wedge tool for taking off the side rails).

Fitting is quite painless. Took me no more that 10 mins to change all of the covers. I did get a central plate with the kit but didn't bother fitting that.

Reason for fitting: My BB skated across the carpark a couple of weeks ago.

Can provide a photo of the old identical parts if that is going to help anyone...

That is a great deal, too. I just paid $35 for just the Pearl assembly for my 8100.

Sorry, you are correct. I just dug mine out of the drawer and the screen is already attached to the housing as you describe.

What case do you have? I have an 8800. Are you willing to sell the case you have? PM me.

Thanks.

The kit doesn't come with instructions.

See ->

1. Open the back
2. Remove the Battery
3. Take out the SIM
4. Remove the two T5 Torq screws (The bottom and middle ones hold in the side rails
5. With finger nails, or some thin & stiff plastic, get between the side rails and the facia to prise them apart. A rule of thumb, do this at the bottom and middle. Don't do this from the top. You'll need to do this from the front and the back. You'll get a satisfying click when they separate & they will stay that way until you push them back.
6. Remove the side rails, holding from bottom and lift up. The rails are hooked over the front and back facia to hold them in place.
7. The rest is pretty simple, if the font and back haven't fallen off by now, then they will both be removed from the bottom lifting up to the top.
8. There is a fiddly joint between the front & back facias as they join at the top, the interlock can be separated, but it does take a little care.

If you'd like some pictures, then I can oblige.

Cheers,

Pete

Default I suppose we shall see...

I have an 8830... and I travel alot, so it comes in handy... well, me and my infinite wisdom not only dropped by phone while it was in the standard blackberry case, but I also stepped on it. This wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the fact that my yard is all desert landscaping....
so it did a bit of damage.

I figured instead of going through the hassle of filing a claim and using my phone insurance to get another one that I would buy the black housing and the black keyboard. I hope it looks alright.

I just need to find a way to make the phone float or protect itself against any damage and then itll be good.

I'll post some pics of it when I get it.
