Default Teathering Internationally with Bold (AT&T)

Please Login to Remove!

Actually the issue is the same no matter the model BB-it's just that teathering with the Bold is so attractive because of 3G. I've teathered over Bluetooth and it works great--375Kb/sec or or. So, it chews up MB quickly. I'm sure it will work internationally great. My question is on cost. I have the unlimited BB email plan with AT&T. I know that just means unlimited email, not browsing. But, practically speaking, I've never been charged for any data outside the US. But, I have not teathered either. Does anyone have practical experience with this? Maybe I'll try a couple of MBs next time I'm overseas and see what happens. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Wow, that's about EDGE speed. With 3G, I get anywhere from 1400 - 1800 Kbps. Are you sure it's getting a 3G signal???

I have never been charged for data either. I think it does include data, that is what I was told. Look at this link. If you scroll down to BlackBerry International, it says international data included. This is an international data package. That is what I subscribe to. $64,99

Just checked the link. You're right. It does say all data included. Last year, I paid (my company paid) $6K for 1GB using my AT&T aircard in Japan. Now it can be free??

Is that over Bluetooth or wired? EDGE speed is more like 125kbps, isn't it? Maybe I'll try wired.

T-Mobile's international Blackberry email plan is cheaper and doesnt require any commitment. But it covers only email.

AT&T's international Blackberry plan is more expensive and has a minimum 1yr term. But it covers both email and data.

I do not think this includes tethering.

Kb/s <> Kbps

One is kilobytes per second, the other is kilobits per second.

NO, what you just compared are both kilobits per second. Kilobytes would KBps or KB/s. Notice the capital B.
