Question i need a litle help understanding

Please Login to Remove!

im going to get a blackberry 8100, but theres a few things i need to know about it first.

1. do i need to be on a special vodafone/blackberry plan to get access to wifi?

2. if so how much will it cost me?

i want to stay on telstra but ive been told it will cost me to use wifi. also can i download microsoft word and stuff for it too?

Is the pearl 8100 a reliable phone, any faults or anything to it?

im so confused i just need some help.

thank you

Wirelessly posted (8100 Strike 2)

Not sure about your first 2 questions, but as far as the pearl goes it is a solid device. I have had no problem at all with mine.

Welcome to the Forums.

1. The 8100 does not have WiFi. The 8120 does. You don't need a special plan to access WiFi, you need a wireless signal, like at a hotspot or your home wireless router.
2. Whatever you pay, will be the cost. It varies.
3. You can't download MS Word, but there is a BB version called eWord, costs $$s.
4. The 8100 is quite a reliable device.

1. Yes, you need a Blackberry Data plan in order to get email, internet, etc.
2. Not sure...check with your carrier.
3. The 8100 doesn't have wifi. The 8120 does.
4. No microsoft Word. Word docs can be viewed as email attachments only.
5. Yes, the pearl is a very reliable phone.

**merging this post back to the original thread**

Your question is answered here. 8100 has no WiFi, 8120 does.

If it's an 8100, I can 100% guarantee you that it doesn't have wifi. Only the 8120, 8820, and 8320 have wifi.

Then you have an 8120.

What is the remaining question?

Make your mind up, sparky.

The 8100 does NOT have WiFi. You can't convince us otherwise. We have insider knowledge about the 8100.

The 8120 does HAVE Wifi.

Something is not right. The 8100 does NOT have wifi. ONLY the 8120. There is no wifi on the 8100. If you have wifi and you can turn on wifi then you have an 8120.

So, being a little less vague, would you tell us what the link says? Does it say "WiFi" or what? And what happens when you click on it?

Sparky, look in Options >About. It should say what kind of device it is in there.
