Default Got a BB Storm and stuck

Please Login to Remove!

Hello!
Im new to the forums, but i hope to stay active depending on if i can fix my problems.
Basically i got the BB knowingly that it was messed up. She said it was disconnected during a sofware update and wouldnt display video but the backlight is on. So i took it off her hands wiped the device and tried to reinstall the OS, still nothing. Any Ideas? And when it comes to Unlocking is it imperative to pay for it? Hope i didnt break the rules asking that

Start at the beginning.

When you received the device and powered it up, what did you see?

Did you try a simple hard reset? That is, with the power on, remove the battery for at least 30 seconds.

Did/does it have a microSD card installed? Did you try removing it and operating the blackberry without the card insalled?

You say you wiped it. Exactly what did you do? What did you use?

Regarding unlocking, the easiest, safest thing to do is buy the code from a reputable source. Check out the sponsors of this forum. See How do I unlock my BlackBerry? - BlackBerryFAQ. Stay away from any engineering utility software you may have found or heard about; you'll ruin the device.

When i first got the device it did exactly this, it powered up, lights came on around the buttons and around the screen itself, but nothing came on the screen

I have attempted a hard reset, but didnt work

Just tried removing the sd card, nothing either

and i used JL_Cmder and wiped the device that way

And thankyou ill look into that if i fix this :]

Were you able to connect with JL_CMDER and successfully wipe? Do you now see the 507 error when you power on?

But does the computer see it?

Did JL_CMDER connect to it?

Were you actually able to run the wipe routine in JL_CMDER? .... I don't remember what you see or are supposed to see, but if you were able to connect and run the routine, did it appear to complete successfully? Any confirmation? Or error messages?

Ok. You need to solve that problem, or at least figure out why you can't connect.

Have you installed the desktop software on the computer? If not, go to blackberry.com and download and install desktop manager. You may have to look for links to desktop software.

If you are using a hub or keyboard or monitor USB connection on the computer, or something like that, switch to a connection on the computer, preferably on the back of the box if you are using a desktop. If you are using a laptop or netbook and can't get it to work, you may want to try another computer.

Check for signs that the device has been exposed to liquid. I don't know what the water indictors look like, but look at any labels in the battery compartment, which I expect should be black and white only, with no color.

Does the device show any signs of physical damage?

JL_CMDER will work for you. There is another program I'm aware of, BBSAK, but I don't think the program is your problem. You need to sort out the connection issue, first.

So, you installed desktop manager on the computer?

Do you know for certain that the USB port is functioning properly?

Are you using a USB cable you know is good? Or are you using the one you got with the device? ..... Do you have another blackberry to connect just to verify that the computer will connect to a blackberry?

Trust me on this, don't worry about finding another application. I'm 100% sure that's not the issue right now.

Take a look at What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ.

If you haven't done so, go ahead and give it a try. Understand that it is tricky sometimes (I hear) to get the timing right. You may need to repeat until you get it. I've read where some experienced people reported it taking 20+ times to get it.

Same question wrt BBSAK, too: Were you able to connect to the device? I'm guessing answer is no.

I'm out of ideas.

It's actually hard to brick a blackberry just through ordinary use. I have a feeling that one isn't bricked, just based on what you've related, and assuming there's not any more to the story that you weren't told. But I'm out of ideas.
