Default 9700 Theme On 8900

Please Login to Remove!

I downloaded a theme for the 9700 (as the creator said it would work), and it seem to work so far. I am wondering now though if this is just this particular theme, or would any theme for the 9700 work on the 8900?

I would not assume that.

That's why I am asking.
So far though, this particular theme is working fine on my phone, but it also may have been created like that (to run on both types). But since I have never ran across this issue before, I thought I'd ask.

All I'm saying is you can't generalize. I don't know much about themes, except reading accounts of people who installed a theme that was written for a different model. That, and poorly designed themes. The fact that particular theme works seems to me the exception rather than the rule. Verify a theme will work on your device before installing it.

When we design a theme there are 2 compatibilities that we set:

1. Screen Dimensions (8900 & 9700 are the same)

2. OS Version (9700 is 5.0, 8900 can be 4.6 or 5.0)

So what it comes down to is if you are running 4.6 on your 8900 then you can use any 9700 that was also designed for 4.6. If you are running 5.0, then you can use Any 9700 themes (untill 6.0 themes start coming out for the 9700).

Ok, for information.
The past day I have spent downloading 9700 themes to my phone, and trying every thing I could on them. And with the exception of one, they all worked on my 8900 (the problem with the one was only with colors not appearing while using crunchSMS).
I am not promoting this, but just reporting it. I had no lock-ups, slow downs or any other issues.

Yes so all of them will work 100% guaranteed. Any bugs you find would be there on a 9700 as well.

I'm just now finding this out. I had to be sure though by running a few experiments. I do see now though that the screen size is the thing, except when it comes to OS 6. It'll be a whole different story then.

Yes, I always test everything out myself as well. Its best not to trust what a random person tells you on the internet ;)

And ya you are right, since 6.0 will never (officially) be released for the 8900 you won't be able to use any 6.0 themes.

Hopefully, the 9780 will drop by then. I did want the 9800, but think I'm gonna wait for the 9780.
