Default BB and GPS

I have mostly decided to go with the 8320 due to the WiFi, for home hot spot, and the ability to get a puck for GPS, seams like the best of both worlds. I am not sure, however, how the entire GPS puck thing works on the BB. I have a Garmin GPS and my concern is that I am not going to get the same type of use as I do now. For example, I can either pre-program a route or I can program a route on the fly while I am traveling. Can I do that with GPS pucks?

I have heard of Telnav but I understand that costs $ 10.00 per month but are there any service that are free or that I could purchase up front and not have to worry about this monthly fee stuff?

GPS aside, I am still thinking of going with the 8320 instead of the 8310 due to with WiFi but I am starting to think I should stop being a baby and just lug my Garmin around with. I viewed another post with the Freedom Keychain (mini) GPS and that things looks frigin sweet!

Any input on how the GPS works and/or if there is anything else I need to think about would be greatly appreciated.
