This will allow you to load the 4.5 theme on to a 4.2, 4.3 device.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this also means all those themes that were built using the beta and were posted to sites, and RIM had removed, can now be posted once again?

What would you edit on the .alx file to accomplish this?

I believe you are correct sir.

On a side note, about a week ago I ran into an odd error that took me forever to figure out, so I'll share.

At least with a "custom" theme, if you try to have one of the icons be for the applications menu, you will get an error about homescree.svg was not able to..... and even tho the theme still exports, it will be an icon style theme, wwithout the today plus or whatever you made it into. Simply changing this icon to any other app solves the problem.

I'm not happy that they took away the MASK feature.... some of us actually used that to make our themes look a little better.

I am guessing you would edit here :
Code:
 <application id="BD zen" _blackberryVersion="[4.5,)">
Can you put he OS like this.. 4.5,4.2 or do you need to make a different version for each OS?

In CDK 4.2.2, you could put an image in the MASK, and it would be your homescreen image. If you changed the background picture in the inspector, I think page 2 or 3...it woud change the background on the application screen.

Also...when using masks..people cannot replace the image on the home screen with some silly image thy liked better...I think it keeps the integrity of the theme by using a mask to keep the images theme based.

I'm having problems getting the themes to show on my device. I can go under applications and see it's installed, but when I go to Options > Themes, they aren't listed there.

It is a 'custom' theme that I did.
It exported fine with no errors.
I'm running OS 4.5.0.52.

I made a few themes with the previous verson and had no problems with the themes showing up. Anyone know what the problem could be?

@thatboiwes, thats probably due to the fact you removed some of the BB themes (e.g. net_rim_theme_bbdimension_icon_320x240_b.cod and/or net_rim_theme_bbdimension_today_320x240_b.cod). If you restore those themes your "hidden" theme will present itself.... kinda suks.

Wirelessly posted (at&t BlackBerry 8310)

That was it. I thought about that before I decided to ask but didn't really think that those 2 themes would have made a difference. But it did.

Thanks!

Its a shame we have to "restore" those themes approx 676k, of my valuable memory, and then install the 3rd party theme ontop...

Hence, for me at least its not worth it... I am quite happy with the BB Dimension L Theme.
