Default Will I be Disapointed?

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking to purchase a new Blackberry. The 8100 (Pearl) is at the top of the list. I currently have a 7100t. I like the the fact that it has expandable memory for music and pictures. I have seen some complaints about sound quality of the phone on both ends. Anyone had this problem? Basically I want to know if I will be disapointed coming from the 7100t that I love to the 8100?

I just picked mine up last week.

It's probably the best smartphone i've ever used. The sound is superb, especially if using headphones for music.

I did have a post earlier about a small complain with the speakerphone, i'm really picky when it comes to sound, all it really is that the small speaker on the back of the pearl can't handle bass notes with the volume set to high, so if someone is speaking with the phone on their face, it won't sound good (small distortion). I asked around and it seems like it's expected from this phone. Regular conversations without the speakerphone sound very clear (headset, or built in speaker). But if you are going to listen to music, it's best to use the headphones it includes, the sound is great.

You won't be disapointed.

I went from the 7100t to the 8100. Best move I ever made.

Quality is not an issue. Don't abuse the phone and it will hold up well. There are some in here whom have reported mechanical problems, but remember those are covered under warranty and they represent only a few out of the 10 million or more Pearls that have been sold.

I have no problem with sound quality. In fact the speaker phone has worked well in conference rooms when I have had to put it on speaker phone for everyone to hear. And the stereo port works very well with headphones [using the Seidio 2.5 to 3.5 mm adapter].

I guarantee that once you use the Pearl, if you have to fire up the 7100t you will think what a dog it is [the 7100t, not the Pearl]. You will especially wonder how you ever got along without the Pearl's trackball.

Bonus Comment: When I got the 7100t I thought IT was the coolest phone ever. I guess it was at the time, but the Pearl makes it look and feel like hammered dog poop.

Query: You are getting the Pearl for free, aren't you? If so, what's the risk? Try it out. If you don't like it, send it back. But I know you will love it.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I echo everyones sentiment, I have had my pearl for less than a week and I love it. And I am coming from a long line of qwerty devices.

If listening to music over wireless bluetooth headphones is something you'd like then get the curve. The pearl lacks big time in this area.

Def go with the Pearl. Killer looks, great usability and a solid OS. How can one go wrong.
