Default :: T-Mo and Roaming / Data Plan ::

Please Login to Remove!

I'm from Los Angeles and will be traveling on vacation to Tulsa, OK then Miami, FL in a couple of weeks.

I assume I will get charged for regular calls at the "roaming" rate, but my question is, can I still use my unlimited data plan without increased "roaming data" rates?

Please respond if anyone is familiar with traveling with T-Mo's unlimited data plans.

Thanks.

I travel, but I have national voice plan (with add on unlimited blackberry data plan).

I pay nothing extra when out of local area. But don't how it would work for you if you don't have a national voice plan.

What does TMO say?

I guess I have a nationwide plan as well, I can call anywhere in the nation, but I know when I travel out of my area, I would have to pay roaming fees.

I'm more concerned about there being "data roaming". =)

The national plan by my meaning means no roaming. Minutes are minutes no matter what number in US I call and no matter where I'm at in the US when I do. Is that what you have? If so, there is definitely no roaming surcharge on data.

The T-Mobile calling plans (as well as Data) are ALL completely nationwide UNLESS your calling plan is specifically called a REGIONAL PLAN.

Meaning, and as stated in the contract/features...
Free Nationwide Long Distance and Roaming.

Phone calls and data rates are applied normally against your regular airtime.

You will not see any additional charges, unless, like I said.. your rate plan is a "REGIONAL" plan (your rate plan's title will say REGIONAL).

Out of curiosity, does TMO sell regional plan on a blackberry (doesn't make sense to me, but I don't know anything). And if they do, is data charged at a roaming rate when out of the region? That sounds like the OP's situation and question.

Then you are set, cenner. That's a nationwide free long distance and roaming plan.

As for aiharkness' question...
The REGIONAL plan is less expensive, and is targetted at people who really never or even ever think about calling outside of their state, area, or surrounded couple states.

Up here, the Seattle Regional Plan includes Washington state, Idaho state, as well as Oregon.

It works well for a lot of people.

BUT, It is to my knowledge you would NOT be charged for the data itself (as data is "Unlimited", as the addon states), BUT I would say that you will be charged for Roaming Airtime. That would be a particular question you should call Customer Service for.

If you would like the toll free number that by-passes the automated customer service systems and gets you directly to a rep, PM me and I will be happy to provide that number.

To the OP, that's the same plan I have. Can confirm no roaming.

Greggers, I was just curious. I think very similar question was posted by someome else earlier today.

When I was on Cingular, I thought I had a nationwide plan, so while in another state, I was using my phone like normal and to my surprise the bill for that month was $250! There their nationwide plan only allowed me to make calls nationwide while I was in my "home" area.

This is why I'm asking about T-Mo. =)

They've since updated their features and contracts as well cenner.

They provide free nationwide long distance and roaming.
Actually.. this is standard across all major providors.
