I'm jumping ship from Sprint to either ATT or TM in October for a new curve.

The GPS on the 8310 would come in handy sometimes, probably not much, but at least I might use it.

What exactly would I use WiFi for on the 8320?? I assume it would only be for faster browsing, but is this really going to be much faster?? I guess I could browse if I'm out of TM coverage and within wireless range, but I can't think of an instance when that would ever happen. Am I missing something about the WiFi feature??

If ATT and TM coverage are equal, it seems the 8310 is the way to go??

8320 will also take advanyage of the tmo @home service voice at home via wifi unlimited!

The coverage areas aren't equal (att has slightly more), but you can use any wifi network that is unsecured or that you have the key to for calls with the tmobile BB.

A GPS puck is easy to add to the tmobile curve, and then you have all the functionality of both devices. Good luck adding wifi to the att model (and even then, it probably wouldn't work for voice).

I would make sure that ATT and TMO have as good or better coverage in your area otherwise you will be very disapointed, even if you get the newest phone.

I would love to switch over to ATT or TMO to get the new phones when they come out, but unfortunately, in my area, their coverage is inferior to VZW.

So if minutes aren't an issue, I get good coverage from my carrier, and I don't use my cellphone an inordinate amount of time at home, then I assume WiFi isn't much use to me?

I know TMO is excellent in my house. ATT I know is great very near my house but haven't actually had someone's phone "in" my house so that's a possible issue. I'm leaning towards at least starting with ATT under the 30 day trial and can always bail to TMO.

Verizon coverage is excellent everywhere, but because of their lack of phones, and their crippling of phones, I wouldn't switch to them.

That is correct. All that it would really do is speed up web browsing, which probably won't really do much anyway if you are a typical web surfer. It would make the BlackBerry Forums WAP site load faster though. Yeaaah!

As an ex customer of ATT and new customer of T-Mo, I can tell you from my experience that if customer service matters to you, T-Mo has ATT beat. I had constant problems with ATT's accounting of my minutes and they did very little to help me fix/diagnose the problem. Since I've been with T-Mo they have always been extremely helpful and very friendly.

[B]I have both ATT and T-Mobile. For me both have served me well. I have great customer service experiences with both.
To my mind,cost wise, T-Mobile is the best value. The new T-Mobile H@H adds additional value. I took advantage of the unlimited H@H promo of $9.95. It will soon go to $19.95, still a fair value.
I have ample voice minutes on the T-Mobile; 1500 minutes. I took H@H for the strong at home signal as well as other perks. As with most homes, ther are spots in my home cell signals have a hard time reaching. A strong signal with unlimited calling has advantages.
For example, I use Vonage as my home phone (also pleased with the price and service) so my H@H service gives me an additional phone number that can be used when the home phone is busy.
Another advantage is that when traveling in Europe and your able to hook-up to a Wi-Fi your calls to the States are free.
T-Mobile has greatly expanded their services with H@H. They did this at low cost to themselves and at reasonable cost to their clients. Thats a real win-win.

WiFi is also a plus if you have Skype - assuming we get a application for it. Currently iskoop uses your plan.

Whoa! So with the HS@Home service, we can make calls over the Wifi fro FREE while outside of the United States as well? Really? That is amazing!

I knew that was possible with the Truphone VOIP service that I am currently using with my E61i but didn't know this was going to be possible with the HS@Home. One thing that no one has told me yet is whether HS@Home will also allow for unlimited web browsing over Wifi if I have this service.

Frankly, when traveling for business the Wi-Fi I see is rarely free. Hotels often require your browser to be qualified by inputting name and room #. Many times have a daily fee. Often have mediocre signal strengh, which I think would impact call quality. Also if I'm setup in such a location, chances are I can fire up the laptop for browsing with a useful screen size.


...All of which makes wi-fi a distant second behind GPS for me... of course, I'm not exactly a road-warrior so maybe others get more free wi-fi access...

As a soon-to-be former Verizon customer, I can only echo this on AT&T customer svc. as well, which, as far as we're concerned is amongst the worst of ANY service-based business I've encountered in a very long time. I was all set to move my business over to AT&T...their abysmal way of handling a serious issue establishing...that's right just ESTABLISHING... our service should be a case study at Harvard Business School in how to lose customers as fast as possible.

I'm looking fwd. to the WiFi Curve and giving a shot at T-mobile.

As you noted, this is clearly the most important thing to consider. If the carrier doesn't have a good signal wherever you plan to use your phone, then a fancy BB isn't going to do you very much good.

Since you know that Tmobile works excellently in your house, I wouldn't hesitate going with them.

i will agree that tmobile's service beats ATTs hands down. but if i had the choice between the two, i would choose GPS...i've always wanted nav in my car i guess the phone is the next best thing.

Why can't they give us both like the 8820? Id prob take the GPS. With a Blackberry I don't use the web browser much like my iphone. WIFI would be good for google maps but I am not usualy near a hot spot when using that ap on the BB so it is pointless. Guess if you are roaming in another country you can use you BB free where there is a free hotspot and not have to pay roaming charges.
