Default blackberry and iphone?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got an internship with a large firm in my town. They have recommended I get a blackberry since all the other people in the firm have them. I am going to be there for about 8 months and am hoping to get a job there afterward. Unfortunately I bought an iPhone a few months ago, and would still like to use it on weekends. Basically my question is, has anyone else done this? Can I use my iPhone data plan with the workaround listed here? Ideally, I would like to simply switch my SIM card back and forth. Thank you so much for the help!

Welcome to the Forums.

With what workarounds listed where? For a BlackBerry, you must have a BlackBerry Data Plan. You can switch your SIM back and forth if you want, that will work, but an iPhone data plan won't get it on a BB.

No. The data plans are different.

So the iPhone data plan won't work as a "generic data plan" like in the how to article?

I know what will work. A BlackBerry Data Plan will work.

I don't know if an iPhone plan "won't work" as generic data plan (limited internet and data), but I do know you won't get your email or full internet browsing capabilities.

It's possible that you'll be able to use Opera Mini for browsing and some other 3rd party apps with TCP on the BB with the iPhone data plan.

But as JSanders said, you won't get push email to the device and your corporate mail will NOT go to your BB without a BB data plan.

I have a BBerry Pearl and bought and unlocked an iPhone. I have a Unlimited Data BIS Blackberry service for $20 from T-Mobile and with some simple changes to the iPhone, you can access internet with iPhone and have BBerry email and internet access with the same sim card.

The OP wants to go the other way. He has an iPhone data plan and wants to use it with the BB. That won't work so hot. Your method, would work if he were to get an AT&T Blackberry/Plan.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Sell the iPhone buy BB! Or add bb to your plan as primary line and have iPhone as secondary line!

Can ya post this workaround or a link to it I'd like to check it out
