Default Bold rebooting by itself....

Please Login to Remove!

then on startup, the clock sits in the middle for a few min (meaning its thinking). Then it is followed by a "software security check" progress bar.

This only happens every once in a while and it started after installing some myspace app that doesn't seem to appear anywhere. I uninstalled it and it happened again.

any ideas?

does the software security check happen again cause that is supposed to happen or does the clock sitting in the middle keep happening? Also, try seeing if the battery is in completely.

It seems like it was trying to finish an installation that could never be satisfied. The security check would finish and eventually the phone would return to normal but then at some random time later, it would reboot again.... sit at the clock, then do the security check again.

I ended up taking out almost every app I added and it seems to have went away. I think something didn't install properly.

Anyways, thanks for trying to help.

I'm glad you found out your problem, but if it happens again, try reinstalling the os, maybe something got corrupted.

I have a brand new Bold (arrived yesterday as a replacement to an 8820 that wouldn't switch on anymore)

My Bold switches itself off every 6 or 7 minutes (I could be in the middle of a call, writing a text message, or it could just be sitting on the table with no-one near it) and then re-boots. I get the same white screen with a small timer in the middle, then the normal screen comes on and the security check runs.

I have not loaded any apps. All I have done is manually type in my entire address book (all because Crapberries don't talk to Macs!)

Personally I'm getting sick and tired of Crapberries!!! I've had over two dozen in just under a year. Do any of them work as they're meant to?

Over two doze in under a year? You have bad luck!. I am a BES admin and havent had a single failure in over 1 year with 37 units.
I would suggest taking it back if itis only a day old.

I went through 4 Tilt replacements before they finally sent me this bold. Now its acting up.

I don't have time or patience to deal with ATT anymore. I mean, all of the phones they sent me were so obviously broken It makes me wonder if they have blind people inspecting this crap. One the keyboard didnt work, and the others had major screen problems like half the pixels were green and junk. gees! And they tried to charge me $100 each time! not to mention it took 4 months to go through all that and they made me pay the bill for those 4 months I had nothing but broken phones!!

Maybe its not the phones but the providers.

Somebody give me a break and help me fix this. I doubt re-installing the OS will help, that is just the first "solution" for everything but I will try it if you guys insist.

Reinstalling the OS can't hurt, if Battery pull doesn't help - I would reinstall the OS!

Ok, the rebooting is now only happening when I try to play higher quality movies.

The lower quality ones work almost every time but the ones with higher quality work half the time.

I have put the same movies on a friends Storm and he never has a problem playing them. They look great (better on my phone) but don't always play.

If I delete them off my 2 gig micro SD and then put them back on they seem to work for a while. But then, after a day, I try to play and it reboots almost like its taking up too much memmory and it memmory dumps.

I know these movies are ripped 100% correctly and should play fine.

Also, sometimes when I try to load an app, it does the same thing. Almost like if it has to think too hard, it crashes.

Mine was rebooting sporadically. Narrowed it down to a loose battery. Had a similar problem with my 8800. Solution is simple...open back of case, insert a business card on top of battery (position so it doesn't block the opening for the camera). Close case...done...

I am starting to think it is my micro SD card. I formatted it with the bold but I think that might be when the problem started... .after the format.

I ordered a new one.. well see what happens.

Gonna try upgrading os now

Sounds like it could be a host of reasons for the reboot. This is my second bold. I sent the first one back 'cause it was rebooting. Reboots at odd times...when I'm doing something or when I'm doing nothing. At least the Palm only rebooted when I told it to. This one has a mind of it's own.
