As above, I have installed an app called Blackstar for navigation, tracking and possibly some geocacheing later on.

Trouble is it can never find a sattelite to lock onto.

What am I dong wrong? Is there something else I need to run thos app, or is my Blackberry not capable of GPS?

According to their profile, they have an 8520.

If that is true, the 8520 doesn't have GPS.

That would be the reason then. Shame about that. Is there anything that can be used to make this work? Or am I just being over optimistic?

You can buy a Bluetooth GPS receiver, pair that with the BB, and use it. It works pretty well, and Bluetooth GPS receivers are reasonably cheap
