so as i'm sure most people on the forum know that you can SMS any phone via teleflip, or using the carrier extension.

It is also possible to reply to these email to SMS, and the person will get it in their email accounts. I tried it myself, and the SMS from my BB turned up in my GMAIL.

I'm not on a BB data plan, but for some reason, this thing is screaming at me and telling me i should be able to email anybody via SMS on the BB, without a data plan.

or is there something else at play here?

You can email via SMS? I thought you could only email via email/data. I know you can SMS via email with an SMS/Email gateway, but didn't think it worked the other way.

I don't think that I've ever tried it from a blackberry, but on many phone's SMS text clients, you can just type the person's email address followed by a space, then the flip phone with send the message our as an SMS to be received by the recipient's email server.

I know lots of kids who do this to send email to their parents at work. none of these kids have data plans.
