Default Sim Card Error! Wtf mate?

Please Login to Remove!

So I have been recently experiencing a problem with my pearl that has me very nervous. I've picked up my phone several times and seen the message "sim card error" across the top of the screen where it normally displays my carrier's name. Is this a common problem pr is it rare? Is there an easy fix or should I go demand a new pearl? Any info on the situation at all?

Sometimes just the SIM needs reseating. Was it is a new SIM card or one used from another phone? If so, tell the carrier you are having SIM probs and they should replace it easily.

Default I'm having the same problem!!

I am having the same problem!!!!!! I found some information about this issue posted on another forum. They say that the pearl has a bad harness for the sim card, and sometimes when you set it down or put it into a clip is moves the sim card moves slightly and causes that error. I don't know if that is true or not?

maybe just put a few layers of tape ontop of the sim and then when the holder comes down it makes a more firm hold on

I experienced that when I first got my pearl. You need to make sure that the latch holding the sim card is in the 'locked' position, do that by placing the card its spot flip the silver housing over it and slide the silver housing down you will feel it lock. I hope that helps

Have you guys tried getting a new sim card?? Sometimes sim cards are just retarded and you have to get a new one, i had to do that once. Also try cleaning the sim card with a cloth may help. If not, then it must be loose in the back.

After some careful examination, I have determined that it was the poorly made sim card tray that is the source of the problem. I managed to get it locked down, but I'm not too convinced that it won't eventually work its way out again.

For a permanent solution, I'm going to take someone's idea about using tape or a like object to hold the tray down and in the locked position.

I have to say though, I haven't experienced the Error message since I re-adjusted!

I had the same problem, and brought it to Tmo. and they gave me a new SIM card bc my old one's connectors were fried. I dropped my last phone in the toliet, and when i tried to power it on a little later, it was frying the connectors.

If the sim cover isnt properly in place it can be a slightly loose and you'll get a SIM error message. this also happens sometimes if you drop the phone. my BB fell the other day and i ended up getting that message a few hours later (guess it knocked the SIM thing loose or something). I just checked that it was in tight and it was fine when turned back on.

That's ridiculous. It's either the card or the card holder that's the problem. So I would ask them to give you a new sim card first. If that doesn't happen, they should replace the phone.

i've had the problem also. replacing the sim with a new one fixed it completely.
didn't have a "sim card error" during the last 3 months while i had them almost daily with the old sim.

All phones have issues. Manufacturers take note and improve or correct flaws.

While I think the Pearl is certainly not a sturdy phone, under normal use mine has held up well. Duly note that the Pearl cannot sometimes handle abuse too well, e.g. dropping the phone.

On the SIM card slot RIM did note that which you all are complaining about. The rumored Pearl 2 will have an improved SIM slot which I take to mean will not be so flimsy.
