Update or upgrade the OS?

Look here for the latest OS released for that model: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...dafone-de.html

In my experience, upgrading to a new OS does not re-install any subsidy locks (unlike some Motorolas I've tinkered with).

Upgrading an OS will NOT touch the locking of the device... once unlocked, always unlocked.

If you backup your device, and an upgrade does so automatically, there is nothing you could lose, but I also understand if you choose to not do so.

I have an unlocked T-mobile 8800 and did not have any issues after the upgrade as far as using other SIM cards. I have Orange/AT&T/Vodaphone SIMS which all work without any issue.
