Newest OS. Is it the greatest, I don't know.

For the latest 8330 OS, see the Sticky note threads at the top of this 83xx section.

We have an aftermarket software section for you to explore: Screen caps try CaptureIt and ZonaSnap.
IM, get BeeJive. Texting, use your text program loaded on the device as it is.

Opera Mini will work.

I would wait until you get the devices, play with them and see how they work for you before you even think of updating the OS. You may find they really aren't broken and work well just the way they are.

Just remember that it's a BlackBerry not a Winmo device.

Hacking, modding, and flashing are typically not necessary to get a great user experience.

And you can very easily brick it if you don't know what you are doing.

The 8330 is the Sprint model. The only difference is that there is an 8330 with an ESN or an 8330 with an MEID number. All the new ones have MEID numbers, and you can only install an OS for an MEID model on it.

In that case fixxxer is going to have to install this OS instead of the previous one I posted if he receives a MEID version phone.

If you get it new it will probably be the 8330m. The 8300 model is a GSM device, and not available from Sprint.

No, he said that the new phones are MEID versions and since yours is a new phone then you should be getting a MEID(8330m) version instead of the GSM(8330) phone

Opera Mini 5 beta works fine, it just has some issues with OTA's. For OTA's I switch back to the stock browser.
