Default OS: 8330 4.5.0.122/4.5.0.89 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

This is for the 8330 model, and will load on any carrier's 8330.

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8330 smartphone BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.122 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.122
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.89
  • Software Platform: 3.2.0.52
  • File name: 8330uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel122_PL3.2.0.52_A4.5.0.89_All Tel.exe
  • File size: 68.06MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the software here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...03923A1C591DB4

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 8330:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

First small change:

The markup for messages which aren't HTML (we have an old BES) seems to bold and raise the font size of any text within the email you can use to trigger a function.

For example phone numbers, email addresses.

It only seems to effect new email, not old messages which have been restored. Don't remember this from the prior OS.

Will this upgrade kick you off the BES server? Not really looking forward to sending in a request to be put back on (and the subsequent wait).

Hmmm... I would think that .97 is greater than .89, so the answer would be that it would be a downgrade. But it's an official release which isn't the case with .97, so if you are having issues, you might downgrade to this.

I think you're referring to incorrect portion of release number. You'll notice RIM releases go in the format 4.5.0.122/4.5.0.89 (not sure why, could anyone answer this?). So, in this case the 122 is higher than 97.

I'm not having any issues with .97 So I'll probably stay with it....

unless this release is newer.... I was never sure i fi should pay attention to teh .122 or the .89....

FYI this release doesn't fix the short speakerphone blast when answering calls. I don't see how RIM can miss something so major as to how the phone speaker operates when answering a call in testing their OS.

Package version versus apps version.

Package = apps + platform

at least that's how I understand it

In this case you would want to pay attention to the applications version of .89. I'm pretty sure most betas are reported as the application version, not platform or package.

For .97 in the same format of the original posting:

Package Version: 4.5.0.132
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.97
* Software Platform: 3.2.0.52

This IS working on my Sprint 8330 without any problems.

Just know, that when it sits there looking like it is doing nothing, it is DOING somthing.

First time this happened to me, I thought it was broke, and ended up destroying the BB. You just have to be patient....

Is nobody else having the brief speakerphone blast when answering calls? I find this incredibly annoying and just downgraded back to 4.3. I'm just amazed that the mass population would stand for such an annoying bug, but am I wrong?

That issue is a Verizon specific issue apparently. Several Verizon users have reported it.

I have Sprint, and it works fine. It took only about 20 minutes to load. Does Excell not come with Docs To Go?
