Default OS: 9550 5.0.0.497/5.0.0.320 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

Latest OS: 9550 5.0.0.497/5.0.0.320 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.320 (Multilanguage)
This is from Verizon Wireless, and will work on any 9550 model by following the directions below.

Package Version: 5.0.0.497
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.320
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.124
* File name: 9550AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel497_PL4.2.0.124_A5.0.0.320.ex e
* File size: 101MB

Download Link: http://appstore.vzw.com.edgesuite.ne...A5.0.0.320.exe

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9550:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

i don't think you got what i said.....just this week verizon released .328 for the 9530, then .320 for the 9550. notice how the app version is higher for the 9530.....as opposed to the newer 9550 having a newer OS version.

just thought that was interesting

Excuse the possible 'dumb ass' question here, but is the same software as released for the 9550 the same s/w you run on the 9520?
I see a lot of posts talking about releases for the 9550, but never the 9520?

Default One other question...

I see alot of folks including me having some problems with the upgrade to OS 5 on the Storm 1. Do the same issues plague the Storm 2 and OS 5 or is all of this only related to the Storm 1's upgrade? Im about to go to the 2 and want to know what to expect. The little issues outweigh the benefits for me non the less, and will be cleared up I am sure...in time...

I would list a few of the problems you are having with 5.0 os the Storm as I do not know them off hand.

This is the OS to release with the device I have noticed various, where my wifi disconnects, the screen is unclickable, and a few others.

If I had to guess, no. Every model has its own specific OS.

Only problem I'm noticing is that 3rd party icons (i.e. bbweather) don't update on the home screen. This was a problem with the .328 upgrade on the 9530s, which was fixed by moving the icon and then moving it back. This fix doesn't seem to be working for .320 on the 9550 though.

I move my icons off the home screen grid and then move them back, they update fine.. But forever.

A very rather annoying bug

When I do this, they only update that one time, they don't continue to update. Are you getting yours' to continue to update?

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9550:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Hi - do we have to follow these two steps:
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

if we are looking to configure an unlocked 9550 to work on ATT service or do we just install the most current 9550 os onto the PC?

Thanks

not me!

.428 for my 9550 still suffers from "screen jump"

at times the screen when you press down doesnt select the right selection and jumps around making the phone un usable.

I spoke to soon my internet is not working - I can receive emails but when I try to browse the net it won't connect. I verify that the Apn is set to wap.voicestream.com and switch it to also epc.tmobile.con. Also made sure network is on gsm and 2g. Overall screen is great and bootup time is faster.

I resent the service books and ran apploader again and browser started working - so .428 is still of the hook!!!
