Default Using "Keep Messages"

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, here is my situation, I have a blackberry bold running os 4.6.0.266 on BIS. I have gone to messages>General Options> and under actions> I have the setting "keep messages" set to 15 days.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I am under the impression that this setting would delete messages after they are on my blackberry for "15 days". This is not the case. I have three email accounts and all of them continue to hold on to messages more than 15 days. In other words, why is the device not deleting the emails? Do I need BES for this?

Things that I have tried are restarting the device which does not rectify the situation. In addition, My email reconciliation is set to the following
delete on: mailbox and handheld
Wireless reconcile: On
On conflicts: Handheld wins

I know about deleting prior emails but that is inconvenient and I would really like to take advantage of this feature. I searched the forum and noticed that someone else had a similar problem but it was never resolved. If I am missing something obvious, please let me know.

Thanks everyone

I may be wrong but I think the settings your using pertain to text messages not email.

I don't think the settings are wrong but yet no one can answer this question. I guess i will try and contact blackberry. As I mentioned earlier, someone other than myself had the same problem, and it was not resolved. Thanks for trying though.

Wirelessly posted (8320 Titanium)

I have been researching the same issue on my curve...I had never used the "keep messages" option until recently...I had it set on forever and recently changed it to 30 days...I noticed that it didn't delete all of them that were older, did a batt pull, and they were still there...next thought was that maybe the BB had to roll past midnight so it knew a new day had come, didn't delete them then either...I did the delete prior a few days ago and did it 30 day prior to the date that I did it...and so far the bb has been keeping messages properly since then.

Isn't this a BES only function?

I'm guessing here, but maybe just like with BES and folder forwarding where the device will only pickup "new" e-mails that are placed in folders that you redirect and not ALL the e-mails in the folder. Maybe the Keep Messages will only start deleting e-mails counting from the day that you set the option and will not delete any messages before that. So you will have to delete all the e-mails you don't want and then track it from then on to see if it will delete those older than your stipulated 15 days.
