Default 9650 from Verizon to AT&T

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
I just purchased a Verizon branded unlocked 9650, and have been using it on my ATT network for the past 48 hours no problem. However, as expected, BB Messenger and my Email will not work because its trying to sync with the Verizon server, and not AT&T's.
I went into my local ATT store, and their advice to me was the following - I wanted to double check with anyone on these forums if they've had similar experiences, or if they would suggest something else. Their advice was the following:
1) Remove the OS and all software from the Device
2) search for, and install ATT service books for my device,
3) update my OS back to OS6

Obviously that's the basic version of what they suggested. Right now, the phone works great, browsing works fine - however, I am missing two key components - my e-mail, and my BB messenger options -

Anyone able to help? I do have a BB plan added to my account, if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance - I am willing to try pretty much anything - For the price I paid, simple advice like "just buy an AT&T BB" isn't what I'm looking for - I know this can be done, so if it takes multiple steps, I'm more than okay with that....

My guess is that email doesn't work because the seller did not cancel their BIS account before they sold it to you. Therefore the PIN is still connected to the seller's account and is not available for you to use to set up your email on AT&T. Email goes through the RIM servers. not the carrier's. If that is the case, have the seller call their carrier to specifically cancel the BIS account.

Maybe this will help: Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ

Even though it says eBay, the info is good when buying any used BB.

As I was reading this thread, something occured to me relating to a thought I've had for some time. If you can take a Verizon BB and use it on AT&T or T-Mobile, why can I do the opposite? I had wanted to buy a Torch and use it on Verizon. I had given up on the idea when I asked this once before. Just wondering. Thank you.

Everyone who has a BlackBerry should read this forum.

Some (newer) Verizon BBs have two sets of radios in them - one for CDMA (Verizon) and one for GSM (T-Mobile or AT&T). Therefore you can move from Verizon to AT&T - with a bit of work.

AT&T BlackBerrys only run on the GSM frequencies. They will never work on the different CDMA technologies. Verizon to AT&T - yes (but not all Verizon BBs have GSM radios). AT&T to Verizon - never.
