Im gonna upgrade my 8520 to a 9700 in 2 days as I cant live with the slowness of EDGE on my 8520 it's not even usable...from what I read here....it doesn't seem like a wise choise to plunge to this latest OS...shall I just stick with whatever valid update the BlackBerry Desktop Manager offer? Will I be missing on anything?

The older OS has a bug in the SMS so you may have to upgrade.

installed 743 yesterday and these are the things i noticed:

1. wont lock upon holstering
2. missing homescreen keyboard shortcuts (R for the alarm clock and K for keyboard lock)
3. noticeably better battery life
4. SMS from bbm contacts go to bbm. also appears in the SMS message list but disappears upon reboot
5. it prefers 2G rather than 3G
