I had been following the thread on the Bold battery life until it turned into an essay on battery conditioning.
I have noticed a couple of things.
- I don't think it is the 3G eating the battery. I think is is the WiFi. The other day I turned off the Wifi and at the end of the workday, the battery was only down to 80%.
- With the WiFi off it seems to be different at work than at home. At home where I was able to get the WiFi working properly the battery goes down faster than without Wifi on, but nothing like the 8-10 hours I see here. I expect I could easily get 24 hours. At work, I have so far been unsuccessful getting the Bold to work on the Wifi. I created a profile, but it won't connect. To me it seems that the act of "trying" to connect uses more juice than actually connecting does.
Mine needs charging. I haven't setup my WiFi (although it is on) due to my data plan so I'm going to charge mine up and turn off the WiFi. I'll report back tomorrow sometime.
With fairly heavy use (say a few hours on the phone and email coming and going all the time), wifi turned on and connected, 3G and bluetooth enabled, and my phone using instamapper to upload its location every ten minutes, I am just about making it to 12 hours.

deff not the wifi because i NEVER have mine on since i have 6gbs already, its kinda pointless having the wifi, i think.

I don't think I gave any indication of whether I thought it was acceptable did I? This thread is called Battery Life observation - I am recording my observations, not my opinion.
Off the record I think it is a bit poor, but that's not what this thread is about and I like to keep these things on topic, so on this rare occasion, I kept my opinion to myself.
technically, I saw that my curve can get 21 days hehehe. gotta love RIMs exaggeration and the reason why they got 21. Optimum signal strength, no profiles, not touching the screen, no led indicators and no emails coming in, basically, a paperweight for hefty price I paid for my Curve, I think I'll actually use it .
I think if you can get 1 day of HEAVY usage, you should be lucky. Iphone 3g battery needs to constantly be charged (throughout 24 hours).

So far with my WiFi shut off I am noticing improved battery life.
Had a long PIN conversation this morning, watched a couple of videos, sent/received a few emails and that would usually bring me down 10-15%. I only went down 5% in the 5.5 hours I unplugged it.
