Default 3G Signal?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Bold and Samsung Eternity. The Eternity has a strong 3G signal. The Bold has 5 bars on EDGE but no 3G. I tried this on both .167 and .214. Same results with each OS version.

I am in an area of about 5 square miles and get this same Samsung 3G/Bold no 3G result wherever I go in this area.

The Bold has no trouble picking up 3G in other major metropolitan areas.

I have noticed the Bold switch to 3G (with 5 bars) a couple times here but only for a few seconds!

Any ideas?

Im having a similar problem, since I upgraded to v.162 my phone stopped receiving the 3g signal and instead goes to SOS, I had to configure my phone to 2g in order to get the EDGE signal...still dont know how to fix it....

I dunno guys this can be your SIM card is getting old or something, maybe you should go to your provider and get the most up to date SIM card cause I had that problem before but once I update it I no longer have this problem....I don't I could be lucky or something

When I put the Bold's SIM into the Eternity, the Eternity picked up 3G signal immediately. The Eternity's SIM did not pick up 3G on Bold. Therefore, it is not related to SIM.

Through this testing, I have noticed that when the Bold initially boots up, it starts with a 5 bar 3G signal. But, within a minute, it loses the 3G and goes back down to EDGE.

It must either be a Bold OS issue or hardware.

If anyone has any ideas on how I can prove software or hardware, please advise. Thank you.
