Am am running AT&T's latest version, v4.6.0.304 (platform 4.0.0.247) on my Bold 9000, and everything is fine. I used to upgrade to the latest OS whenever one came out, but haven't been doing so for some time. Is there any benefit to upgrading to OS 5, or should I follow, "if it ain't broke, don't fix"?
My advice is this: if your device does what you need and want it to do, then it isn't broken and doesn't require fixing.
But as devnull said above, only you can answer that question. For more information, read the sections and see the comments from those who have upgraded. Granted, we get mostly negative posts or problem posts, but that should help outline some of the issues you might face.
Leaving the decision (up to you) aside... I updated my Bold 9000 2 days after I got it (1 week ago) and Im VERY happy with the upgrade (note that I went to 5.0.0.681 since everyone was complaining on the newest)
The battery seems definitely better... and OS 5 has more options in the menu and it display better Media (numbers of songs, artist, albums, etc / faster picture thumbnails)
Also but not entirely sure... I think my App Memory has a couple of more mb free (around 5)
So yes, I would recommend (though I have few apps and I notice that my memory goes from ~30MB when starting the phone to ~5MB at the end of the day
Thanks for the advice. I did load OS5 in, and really saw no great improvement (only 2 Gig card), so I went back to 4.6. AT&T had a later version than I had loaded, so I went with that, and all seems well.
I saw a new BB Torch today. Not too sure about it. Seems so different. It's a hybrid for sure, but I'm not sure it would serve me better than my Bold.
