Default No network for 3rd party apps

Please Login to Remove!

Ok. Ive read a zillion messages as well as spending about 1 hr on the phone with tech support. Please help me....

I have configured my TCP setting for the APN to be "wap.voicestream.com" with empty user & pass. Ive rebooted my device multiple times.

I cant get any 3rd party app to work that access the internet. BBtoday weather, IM+, quickim, webviewer, verichat all dont work. I get various types of errors but basically im getting the fact that it cant open a socket connection to the host.

My account has the Blackberry 19.99 unlimited plan, so everything "should" work but doesnt.

Any ideas on what I should do or tell tech support when I talk to them next??

One more piece of data.

I actually WAS able to make my 7100T work as a modem with my laptop. Ironically I was able to send a message over MSN using the modem. So I guess something is working, but I just cant get the msn apps on the blackberry itself to work.

Did you check "Disable MDS Proxy" for both BBToday and BBWeather? Just checking.

fizz,

I tried your suggestion, but it didnt make any noticable difference. Any other suggestions??

The other thing I did was request a new internet service book via the blackberry.net website. It changed by apn to internet2, but that hasnt helped either.

Unhappy

I also have had no luck trying to make this work. I tried BBToday and BBWeather with no positive results. I called T-mobile service four times and even got to their level 2 support. They told me this was an application issue and they would not deal with it.

It is strange how some people get it to work and other's do not. I wonder if it is something that is different on a local basis.

If anyone finds out how to make this work, please let me know.

Ive thought about asking tech support to pick ANY APPLICATION that they want that is not installed by default on the blackberry. If they can make the internet work with that application I will be happy. But this cop-out on "its an application issue" seems like crap to me.

Unfortunately Ive been too busy to try this.

Fixed post for 7100T users of Tmobile:
[They who have offal customer service. pun intended.]

is incorrect:
T-Mobile now needs to configure their BlackBerry:
Tools->APN (or Options->APN)

* APN: wap.voicestream.com
* Username: Your T-Mobile Username
* Password: Your T-Mobile Password

is correct on MY phone:
tools -> setup -> TCP

there's the APN settings.

Entering these setting into your 7100.. does this mainly only help if you are using third party software? Any other other reason for me to attempt doing this?

i have 7100t and it runs in network that does not have any blacberry services . blackberry is original t-mobile phone but unlocked (legally)
i can make calls bu i can't go to internet - but my service provedir has enabled GPRS (i can use it on other phone with my SIM card)

i have alls ettings for WAP/GPRS bu i have no idea how to use them
TCP setting - i entered APN/username - connection refused :(

then i loaded service books from t-mobile (that was in backup) - how to adjust settings in service books so i can use GPRS ?

I will be provided a BB 7290 at work. I want to know if there are any problems using the BB SIM if I'd want to use it for data ocassionally on my Treo 650. What APN should I use - wap.voicestream.com? (This is the one I use for my T-Zones unlimited with the proxy trick on my Treo now). Or do I use the T-Mobile Internet or T-Mobile VPN APN?

Default T-Mobile

Non-BES users on T-Mobile who wants to run MDS software (Internet TCP/IP stack) without needing to get BES just for themselves.

Good news! The ports are now open!

http://www.blackberryforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=3405

I'm sad to say the the above is not quite correct as far as t-mobil uk is concerned. I contacted them today and they refused to set me up with internet TCP/IP connection.

What do I do now?

You'll need to have a Blackberry Data Plan. Ramble uses your data package, so if you have an unlimted data package, you can talk to your AIM contacts as long as your battery lasts without any extra charges.

Hi
I am a new user of Blackberry 7290, and am trying to figure out whether it is possible to connect internet without pay extra fee. i am using t-mobil as a service provider and they have option webinternet connection ($5.99 for each month) Is it possible to connect without adding this setting or i should pay extra $5.99 to connect internet via blackberry?
Could you please give me an answer? I searched the internet but i didn't find right answer for this?
Thank you
