Telenav is a great application and I have been using it since the latest version launched about 2 (?) months ago. Problem with Telenav - it's largely dependent on data service which would render it useless in the great outdoors or areas that has no or weak wireless coverage.
I've been looking into Trimble (
http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/) which seems like the ideal tool. At first, I was wondering why Nextel is retailing overlapping location based software but then I took a closer look at Trimble and realized that there are huge differences. bascially, if you want true GPS, I believe (will need verification) that Trimble allows true GPS without the need for data plan access; something Telenav does not have.
I've lost data connection a few times when on the road and it caused me to drive in circles for a total of about 45 minutes combined during all the times I have had this problem.....and at other times, Telenav gives me completely off the wall directions that has nothing to do with my current location while driving in midtown, New York City. Unofrtunately, I do not think that Trimble has turn by turn directions.
Bottom line is, if you plan on using your GPS for driving, it's best to plan ahead and have a navigator on long trips and depend on the GPS as a secodary unit. Most of the time, Telenav is good but during the times that it did not work, I was screwed since it sometimes takes a while (if at all) to get signal back.
PS: On a full charge, The BB 7520 lasts for up to 4 hours with Telenav constantly running.
