Default Nextel Mobile Locator

I noticed there is not much discussion around here about Nextel's Mobile Locator service. I have a friend that owns a small company with about 10 employees in which he supplies their phones for his service business. Apparently with Nextel's Mobile Locator Service you can track (see the last 5 locations or so) of each phone's location through a web-based product from Nextel. My friend says that he has never personally turned on this service, but knows people that have, and they say it does work and without the users knowledge. I am interested in this for my company. If I pay for the phone, and the service, then from the hours of 8-5, I don't feel wrong about checking on where my sales reps are located. Afterall, if an employee calls in sick, and his/her GPS info on mobile locator would show up in Las Vegas or somewhere other than home/doctor or hospital, I'd have a problem with that employee. For new employees during their probationary period it would be helpful too. My question is, has anyone here ever used this service, and how well does it work? All of my phones are Nextel with GPS capability. I think the service is $15/month per phone and can be turned on and off remotely. Any information would be appreciated.

I use it on my wifes phone since my daughter carrys it when she goes out. I can track her movements with in a 100 feet of where she is. I am buying an 860 with a camera so she can take a picture of where she is if I so request. That way i can show here she is caught where she isnt supposed to be.

Wow, within 100 feet. That is more than enough for my needs. I'd be happy if it could track within a couple miles. I don't really want to super snoop on my guys, ... just want them to know that I could if I wanted to, and that is probably all it will take to keep my folks on track during working hours.

If you live in NY, I can give you the phone number for a great family therapist.

Dont need a therapist. With a blond haired blue eyed yound teen aged daughter its not her that I worry about its the perverted teen aged boys and sick men out there. She is very naive she believes everything every boy tells her. So its not about following here but following them. Think of it as a modern day chastity belt lol

I think it was Ronald Reagan that coined the phrase "Trust... But Verify!".

Dawg,

I can sympathize completely, although my daughter is 17. I know there are GPS devices you can install in vehicles that allow you to track the speed and location . We haven't gone that route yet but have thought about it. My daughter has a part-time job after school and when she doesn't get home at the appointed time I start calling her cell. Things have certainly changed since I was a teenager.

This world, and in the US in particular these days, are not the same as it once was. We are living in fear of other beings rather than embracing them with trust. "Trust...but Verify"; nice.
