Default Mail and Phone log deleting from handheld

Please Login to Remove!

This morning I noticed that the number of unread messages start decreasing from my handheld.

When I went to get in my car, I noticed that my phone log was gone and all mail and pin messages were gone except for a few drafts and saved messages from my when I upgraded my blackerry

I dont believe I changed a setting on the blackberry.

When I looked at my mail on my computer the messages are untouched.

I sent a test message to myself from the blackberry and it was fine.

There are a few things to mention.

1) I am on a BES at work
2) I had 2 personal emails configured on the device before I moved to the 8830 (Verizon). They do not seem to work now. The icons show on the device and they are options as to which account to send from. But they do not work. I have not spent anytime researching the problem.

After I noticed the problem this morning - I looked at the options. One of the personal accounts was listed under email reconciliation. I changed it desktop. I am not sure if this is a problem as it was working fine yesterday and I made no changes that I am aware of.

This is what happens now.

I receive email and it goes to the blackberry as well. If I read on my computer it will mark read on the blackberry as well when it reconciles (I did a reconcile now to check it)
Sometime thereafter the mail completely removes from blackberry.

I am not sure if it deleting or moving to a folder???

I dont believe I made a change. I dont understand what is happening.

I was going to connect it and open desktop manager but I wanted to check first for suggestions.

Thanks
Bill

I will check it out.

What concerns me is that I have a 1GB micro SD that I installed some time ago with some media items on it and didnt encounter any problems then.

I have not made any changes recently and it was holding weeks of email and logs.

It wont hold hours worth now.

I will take a look at this FAQ.

Thanks for the response.

There are also other causes for low memory. Leaving applications running in the background, etc. I am sure after reviewing the link you will have the answer!

Good Luck!

I ran through the list. The defaults mentioned were already set. The only item I did not complete was deleting the sample video

Under the status it shows

File free: 278126 bytes
File Total: 47841280 bytes

Is it not seeing my micro sd card???

How many bytes are in a GB?

The math does not look good

According to what I understand

271K free?

and

only 45 or so MB of total storage?

That's correct. you need to free up memory. Get rid of the sample video, for sure. The free memory on the device doesn't count what's on the media card. The device needs it's own memory to run. The SD card is just for storage, not for running the device.

I did not understand hard reset

I read on another thread about pulling the battery

I did that and now I have 12.7 MB free

Is that sufficient?

There is not a definitive number about of free memory one must have. I have seen call and text logs lost and 22mb free, and and no problems at all with only 7-9 mb free.

Hard reset = Battery pull; are identical, no difference. Same thing.

Are you saying that pulling the battery is the only way to do a hard reset?

I am having the same problem. I have deleted the sample video and the extra languages and every other suggestion. My emails disappear after 2-3 days, except those that are saved or my PIN messages. Help!!

Pulling the battery out helps restore memory, but should I really need to do this 2-3 times a day? This is getting ridiculous.

Now (after a battery pull) it is 12,284,369. Before the battery pull it was about 400,000.

Do I have too many added programs? Here they are:

Empower E-mail Viewer
Pocket Day
Opera Mini
Viigo
Yahoo! Go
Google Maps
BB Alerts

Doesn't look like too many to me, I have about 3x that many, or more.

Honestly, there is not "magic" number to get to, but I feel more comfortable up around 15-20 MB free. Still, some have lost their logs and text messages with 22-25mb free on the 8100.

So remove some languages, and move some pictures and ringtones over to your SD card. Follow the instructions in the link above, by Mr John Clark in post #2.

Good luck.

I have lost call logs and emails and I have 32Mb free. It just "leaks" down over time. The more memory free, the longer you can go between resets.

No. Not even one.

I did keep English (United States), French, Italian and Spanish languages. Could this be it? If I delete a language and later want to use it, can I download it from somewhere?

I have a microSD card for most of my media. There are 3 pix left on the device memory that I haven't moved yet.

I would get rid of the languages. You can load them back using your PC and Desktop Manager. In order to load them back you'll have to install the OS package to your PC. Once that's done, it's an easy process.
