Default New 8330--what OS to run?

Please Login to Remove!

Looking for opinions from those out there who have had experience with an OS on a 8330, or know what they're talking about.

It's an 8330
v4.5.0.138 (Platform 3.4.0.30)
Cryptographic Kernel v3.8.5.32a

Looking for an updated OS (if possible) that more resembles what some of the newer Blackberry's have.

The phone is obviously a bit slower than what i'm used to with my Droid, being that it's older, so I don't want an OS that is going to make it significantly slower.
Also, i'm not extremely fluent in alot of the technical stuff, I never rooted my Droid or installed any OS's in the past.

Let me know what you guys think.

Sell the 8330 and use the funds towards a newer device.
The model you have now is several generations old and you can't upgrade it to anything newer than what you have on there now.

Any OS for the 8330 will work, bu tit must be specifically for the 8330. See the yellow sticky at the top of the 8300 section for the OS and the instructions. Make sure that you follow them exactly and be patient as it can take an hour or more to run.

Apparently they now have OS 5 for the 8330. I want to load it up on my Verizon phone but i get a message to the effect that no upgrades are available. Any ideas?

Forgot link: they won't let me post one since this is my first post. Go to the blackberry site and search in software. It has a download and shows the 8330 as compatible

See the yellow sticky at the top of the 8300 section and follow the instructions there. Verizon has not officially released OS 5 for your device and probably won't.

IMHO, if your device works as you wish it to and there are not major problems, then leave it alone. It isn't broken and doesn't need fixing. If you upgrade you might be disappointed. The Forum is full of those who are now unhappy or having problems after an unnecessary OS upgrade.
