Default Different phone carriers allowed on same BES?

Please Login to Remove!

Can one use multiple phone providers on the same BES? Right now we're all ATTWS I assume so and thought I saw a thread regarding this elsewhere...but just checking.

I have a user on the eastern side of San Diego that has trouble with the ATTWS service...Cingular appears to be a better option for him.

Thanks in advance!

Absolutely, no problem at all. I'm running a number of BES servers, some of which are using two different carriers, Vodafone and Hutchison Orange.

Cheers

We're using T-Mobile (the majority of our users), Nextel (1 user), Cingular (4 users) and AT&T Wireless (1 user) right now on our BES. This will likely expand to include Verizon in the next few months once we roll Blackberry out to our sales force.

Would it also be possible to use one BES server if your users are located in US, Europe and Singapore, while they also take their subsciription from local/national operators?

You can do that; however, if you are running Exchange and the user's mailboxes are in those locations you may run into latency problems. The MAPI calls between the BES and Exchange don't behave very well over long distances and/or slow connections. If their mailboxes are in the US with the BES, than no problem.

Default What about if one is GPRS and one is CDMA?

So there wouldn't be some strange issue if I was to load up a CDMA Blackberry on a BB server which currently only has GPRS blackberries loaded?

Absolutely no problem at all. The BES doesn't care what type of device it is...it just sends packets to the SRP destined for that PIN number. RIM and the carriers take care of the rest.
