Post What model(s) of BB does your company/enterpise issue

Please Login to Remove!

What Model(s) of BB does your company issue if they issue BB at all.

My Company issues exclusively Sprint 8830's and used 8703's. They will however let you bring your own bb to the bes, but you will lose mms as its the only feature our bes locks out.

We used to also have Att/Cingular before the 8830 released for our global travelers, but now its not needed and were exclusively under Sprint now.

We mainly issue Verizon 8830's to our users. However we have users that don't get great coverage with Verizon and we will work with those users to get them a device on a network that works where they need it. So we have different devices from different carriers. On our BES we have all kinds of devices, 7100i, 7520, 7250, 8700, 8703, 8800, 8830, Pearls and Curves.

Wirelessly posted (8310 AT&T)

Ours uses Sprint 8830's and only issues to management level and above.

No blackberrys for the sales force (who are in the field).

We are global; we support dozens of carriers and virtually all models of BBs. Some people had to have the 957s pried from their hands. I guess some people still have 7100s. No Sprint and Nextel has largely been replaced by Verizon.

We don't mandate carrier or model.

I've lost count how many device models we have. Pretty much the only devices we don't have are the Bold and 8220. Yet.

We have pretty much any model. They used to issue tmo 7290's, but everyone complained. Now we just get what we want and get reimbursed.

Standard issue is the 8700 (and it's hard to not get a BB around here) though the squeaky wheels are getting 8310's. Execs get whatever the hell they want, of course.

I'm a Reporting Analyst.

My company has 10 bes servers, with over 300 company issued bb's on the network, with another 120 personal bb's live.

My company issues bb's to almost everyone even the mailroom super has a bb.

Admins
Analyst
Directors
Sr Managers
Executives

All have bb's issued.

Amins, Analyst and Mail Room Supers with Company issued BB's can't use theirs as a phone or text messaging (only Data) and are the ones mostly issued the used 8703's from the higher ups that upgraded to 8830's....That's why alot of us opted to bring our personal BB's to the BES...That and most of us wanted either a Curve or Pearl over the solid but boring 8703.

Why do you have 10 BES for 420 users?
Seems a little excessive, no?

Excessive..... I think so, I run 3 BES servers with a total of ......... 3,542 users!! Rock on!

Company standard is the 8820 but there are still a couple of 8700's floating around.

Well I believe the BES are for more then just Our Division...I work for a Media Giant in NYC...But I can only say what our specific division uses as far as counts...But if its for corporate wide, then we're talking almost 10K BB's walking around.

10 BES Severs do seem a bit on the excessive side. How many BB's/Users can one BES Server support? I though it was something like 500 users.

You can safely support around 2000 users per BES. I think on the practical side, most admins would go with 1200-1500 per BES.

Goldman Sachs issues Cingular 8700 models. They will allow you to use your own model if you prefer, but the IT Policy is among the strictest I've ever seen.

All our N/A Sales team and internal IT, have just been given the Curve 8310 on the corporate plan. However the support team all provide their own and have everything from the Pearl 8100 to the new Bold.
None are on a BES server, everything is BIS, for now.

We've got just about any model on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Nextel (not sprint) and Bell Mobility. Mostly 8300 and 8800 series though.

Damn - Storms already, now that what I call clout.....my boss is dying for us to drop Sprint for the Storm....I think Sprint will be inline to get the storm after VZW as its already CDMA tailored.
