Default Flip phone with full QWERTY keyboard - will it ever happen?

Please Login to Remove!

The 8220 is pretty exciting. Finally, a Blackberry flip phone. But wow, it would be tough to give up the full QWERTY keyboard. Anyone know if there will ever be a Blackberry flip phone with full QWERTY keyboard?

True, but it would be so nice to not have to keyboard lock my blackberry every time I put it in my pocket. What if they made a phone just like the 8220, same thickness, but 3/4" wider (or whatever would be needed for the full QWERTY). Would be awesome.

Wirelessly posted (8100 Strike 2)

Doubt a flat keypad will be made for that.

Does anyone make a good hard cover for Blackberrys? I've never seen one. I suppose to fit well, they'd need to be model specific.

Otterbox makes some great rugged BlackBerry cases.

I don't think the form factor will allow it. A slider phone is a possibility, but I prefer the Curve form factor because it's one piece, hence fewer pieces that could break.

Actually, not necessarily these days... Hands-on with Sprint's new LG Lotus | CTIA show - Cell phone news from the CTIA 2008 show - CNET Reviews

Better picture: lg_lotus_0000

It is still a little awkwardly shaped, but doesn't look that much bigger to me than Motorolas of old.

Well it may sound good having a Blueberry Flip phone, it would look unique but also kind of silly because it's like holding a scientific calculator. It does help in protecting the screen of the phone but with a QWERTY keyboard it may appear rather bigger and bulkier.

Something similar to the Motorola Krave would be cool.

RIM patent for a Pearl style BB with a fold out SureType keypad.(?!?) - PinStack.com - Smartphone Professionals Alliance

A patent from RIM, looking at the Picure it isn't a full qwerty but has the capability to be. of course we might never see this again. Since it does look kind of wierd.

After seeing RIM release diveces such as the Storm and Bold, I believe anything is possible with them.
