Google search, cell phone donations. Of course, you may want to check out what you find to ensure it is valid. Some of the organizations distribute the phones for emergency use and others recycle the phones. Some stores have recycle collection points at the stores as well.
Cell Phone Recycling: How to Donate Your Old Mobile Phone a general discussion on the topics.
Welcome to Cell Phones for Soldiers! I'm more familiar with this one than others and is my personal choice and my Parrothead club supports it with cell phone drives. (I even get free mailing envelopes in my Amazon shipments at times.) This organization recycles and buys calling cards for soldiers stationed overseas.
National Coalition Against Domestic Violence
You may also want to contact local agencies (such as a local Women's or Family Shelter) to see if they take collections.
This is a great topic and might make a great sticky on it's own.
What I personally do with used cell phones since I usually buy new ones well before the end of their life cycle: I recycle within my family or did when we were all on TMO. Now that we've switched to Verizon, I'm trying to convince myself to put my 8900 up for sale on ebay since it's only a year old and in great condition. But I loved that phone and am having a problem parting with it.
Ref the BB program, I don't have the URL for it. Not sure if it's an on-going program or not. Seems like it pops up every year or so as a "Back to school" promo. Depending on the specific device you turn in, you get $X rebate when you buy a new BB. Maybe someone has bookmarked or you may want to do a search on the forums since I'm sure there were previous threads here.
