Hi,

I'm trying to test sending an email from an app I made. I've set the incoming and outgoing servers to the name provided IT. When I click launch though, it errors:

<Wed Aug 09 10:50:33 EDT 2006>: [19] :<ERROR>:<LAYER = ESS, Messaging Exception>

Any idea what i should do to fix it?

Thanks for any help

The server you're trying to use is a simple SMTP/POP server, right?

Thanks for replying.

I don't know...This is my first time developing with BB and I have VERY limited experience with Exchange...Actually I'm confused that SMTP and POP are required with Exchange, because I thought they weren't. To boot, there's not much out there about how to actually set this up...All I can tell you is that IT gave me the name (of the BES?) in the format of xyz.abd.xxx and that I entered that into the Incoming and outgoing fields that the ESS required. I had replied to IT that thuis didn't realy seem to be working, but no resolution as of yet.

If it is of any aid, when I send an email from the simulator, it shows it as sent. It apparently however, has not been,

I don't use my local exchange with the simulator. My testing environment has a simple sendmail box or something that allows anyone to use it really.
What you could do is use the ESS in file system mode, where you configure an email application to send to the thing directly. There ought to be a guide somewhere in the help for ESS.
