there is has been some issues with this release that I have push ahead and installed .301 which is working better than .297

The key issue for me is my device kept dropping back to Edge and at times it would not kick into 3G if I locked it at 3G. I called the carrier who said haven't recieved any reports of network issues, so I grabbed the .301 OS and the issue has gone away.

I live in a dense area were I get all bars all the time.

my custom home screen pic no longer goes all the way to the edges of the screen? Same pic, it was in place on the restore but with a small black boarder on the left and right edge?

The link posted only shows old software and AT&T and Blackberry have no clue what I am talking about a new update.

Why can I not see the .508 version anywhere?

This is what I see:

Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9000 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.438 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.0.438
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.167
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.217
* File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel438_PL4.0.0.217_A4.6.0.167_AT_am p_T.exe
* File size: 93.32MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Default Mad!

I think they pulled it down because they want me to go buy an iPhone or any phone that has active sync, due to the fact that our IT guy can't get the BES to run on SBS2003 and nobody on this forum has responded to help him out!

Here's your answer: "AT&T pulls BlackBerry Bold software upgrade"
ATxxx038;T pulls BlackBerry Bold software upgrade : Boy Genius Report

There aren’t enough words to describe the reasoning why AT&T’s first software upgrade (not counting a minor platform upgrade) since November of last year was just removed, so we’ll pretty much keep it short. The much-awaited and much needed 4.6.0.297 OS upgrade for the Bold has been pulled due to a “software issue affecting the interaction between the device and network enhancements bring deployed.” How AT&T manages to screw something as simple as this up, however, is not answered.

There’s no ETA for the upgrade’s return.

I'm using the new OS and I love it. Battery lasts so much longer and more app memory. I'm keeping it even if AT&T pulled it.

My uneducated guess is that AT&T pulled this because of conflicts between VVM and the device. Within minutes of activating VVM I realized for various reasons I didn't like it: for example, the mail in both the VVM folder and Mail folder, but the biggest annoyance was that I would get multiple repeated text msgs, or so they appeared to be, but there was no message. Learned from ATT that each time a signal was sent to the device relating to VVM it's recognized as a text message (like the 50-text message sent to the device after a voicemail is left with standard voicemail). I couldn't take it so stopped the program. But then the voice message notifiers stopped working, no icon at the top of the main screen and no pop up notification. After hours and hours on the phone w/ an ATT "specialist", we wiped the device. which at first appeared to fix the issue, but shortly thereafter it reoccurred. Once I manually removed the VVM program through desktop manager, the problem stopped for good. Real hassle though, and would have been nice to be able to have removed VVM at the beginning vs hours of hassle.

Wirelessly posted

When the corrected version comes out, I'll get the multi-language version. I thought I needed English only but I'm wrong. Another 100mb of multi-languages would be helpful 'cos I can't read the Chinese text now

I upgraded my wife's bold with the OTA option and since the upgrade she cannot get any data service. No BBM, internet or email which makes having a BB pointless.However when she is connected to WiFi here at the house it works perfectly. I was on the phone with ATT last night and spoke to 3 different people who had no clue what the issue was. I finally put the pieces together late last night and will be downgrading her today to get her operational again. Just thought I'd share my story in case anyone else is having the issue.

This is just strange. Try resending your service books from BIS or BES. So many have upgraded with no issues.

I agree w/Stinsondogg. The only issue(?) since the upgrade on day one was seeing Edge show up in normal 3G areas. But its hard to associate this with the upgrade since it could be AT&T's network. Other than that I've no no issues with .297
