When i am on a call with my Bold i see a square with little plus signs inside it near the speaker icon for the volume on my screen, it goes away if i switch to the speaker phone, then comes back when i switch back to the headset.

What is that thing, I don't remember seeing it the 1st couple of days when just started using it.

It is the Audio Boost indicator, which you can set in your Phone > Options > General Options.

from what screen do i select option, media player...... it shows as off??

Phone = hit your green dial key, that puts you in the "phone" application.

Then click Menu (the key left of the trackball) > Options > General Options.

Yes, use it, but just make sure you have on your clean underwear when you do.
