Use the switch device wizard to go from 8100 to 83xx. That will take most if not all of your information/settings/apps over. As for the GPS program, i love Telenav, but its really a personal preference thing. TeleNav isnt free, but gives a free 30 day trial. ( Voice directions on your GPS phone: TeleNav )

The best/simplest transfer is to use Switch Device Wizard from within Desktop Manager.
The best GPS app out is TeleNav, $10/month, and well worth it if you need the best, with the most features.
The best free GPS app is Nav4All, Google Maps, and AmazeGPS.

Check to make sure with telenav that you get the external bluetooth transmitter, if you need it. I know the 8320s need it.
Everything I've seen about telenav looked amazing.

I love TeleNav too, which makes that Sith character a pretty dang smart guy.

Been trying out Nav4ALL... The meue's are a bit busy to use while driving and I can figure out how to search without an address for say the closest McDonalds but other than that it seems ok...

All 8320's will need an external BT GPS puck. The OP in the thread stated he had the 8310, which has the built-in GPS.

It may help if you give us the links.
Worldwide Mobile Phone Navigation and Tracking & Tracing - Nav4All
I checked it out but it's not free after January 2010. I think this is just a marketing gimmick and it's probably still in beta. From the description, it sounds like it's just like Google Maps with few extra features.
Free GPS navigation for mobile phones || amAzeGPS.com
This one looks really good. I may give this one a try.

Nav4All has been the only free app with turn-by-turn voice directions. That and a few other features make it more than Google Maps.

Next I think I'll try Berry Maps. I am looking for something simple. Something that assumes I want directions from where I currently am unless I tell it otherwise and can enter simple searches like KFC and it will find the closest one to my current location. Heck, this amAzeGPS kept wanting me to enter the city which doesn't make since if I have GPS or when in a metro area...

Google maps is very easy to use. My problem with it is it doesn't move the map or automatically update the directions as you move. I am sure they can update that fairly easy since it does track your location even when it's off the map.
Nav4All is a great map but it takes multiple clicks to get to the obvious. Again, why doesn't it just assume I want directions from where I currently am unless I tell it otherwise? Why can't I just enter KFC and it brings them up starting from the closest from my current position?

Does the 8300 have a built in bluetooth receiver?

I went with the less popular (so it seems) Wayfinder Navigator 7.
It's an up-front $99 US with no subscription fee for the North America version.
Being on a limited data plan, I did not want both a monthly subscription fee and data useage costs.
As for how it stacks up with other GPS apps, I don't know. It has online trip planning, 2D mode, follow me, turn-by-turn spoken, night mode, zoom etc. and it gets the job done. For comparison, I only have my stand-alone GPS unit to compare to. The stand-alone GPS units are far superior but then again, it doesn't make phone calls, keep my appointments or store my contacts, hehe.
