For the past few months I've been having problems with my keyboard. Whenever I brush my finger across the a button my BB registers it as a hit, and now when I hit my i button it won't register unless if I hit it several of times, and then it registers as a capital i. I've tried cleaning the keyboard, hard and soft resets, and it does not have any water damage. Also is there a way of changing the motherboard of the keyboard? If so, how much would it cost?

Sounds like moisture damage. Are you sure that the device hasn't been exposed to ANY moisture? Even a little tiny bit?

Positive, so far there has not been a terrible amount of humidity here in Canada at the Great Lakes, other than that, I don't see anything else that could cause water damage.

Steamy bathroom, sweaty pockets, wet hands, wet hair, walking in the rain, snow? Even a little bit can cause damage.

Typically, the keypad contacts are part of the mainboard. Replacing just the keyboard probably won't fix it if the damage is on the contacts.

I never keep my BB in the bathrrom, sweaty pockets isn't also, wet hands maybe but very unlikely, everything else is not it. Its strange because when I opened my phone to clean it I only had problems with my "a" button, after I cleaned it, it somewhat reduced the issue with my "a" button. mayflower I dont think its that piece thats causing the problem however I guess I have nothing to lose and might try to get another one to see what happens. I'll keep you guys updated if I do end up doing so. Any other suggestions?

How did you 'clean it'?

Or did it get physically damaged in some way? Dropped?

my brother did it for me, he blew on it lightly(I think), then after brushed it with a microfiber cloth.

I have dropped my BB a few times but its strange if it is damaged by being dropped because several of my other friends dropped it many times and severely on concrete yet their phones only have scratches and no other issues.

Well, dropping it can definitely cause physical damage to the circuitry.

Most likely the damage is on the keypad contacts which are part of the mainboard.
