Default Issue with activating BB services on Airtel network India (Model: Curve 9920, )

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I got a second hand Blackberry and trying to setup mail etc which required activating blackberry services from network vendor (Airtel).

However I am facing some issues in that. Earlier I tried activating services using SMS AIRTELBB, but that didn't work. I contacted customer care and they asked me to get recharge (Rs 82 or 103) done using retailer. But even retailer couldn't get it through. He gets message that 'bad recharge'. I again contacted Airtel CC and this time they again asked me to activate services using AIRTELBB sms service. I did that again and got sms that service will be activated in 30 minutes but it again didn't happen. Later I tried to recharge the blackberry packs using paytm, (Rs 82,103) but these transactions also failed as Airtel didn't accept these recharge amounts.

Would anyone have any idea what could be the issue? Has Airtel discontinued BB services (But some live pages in their website are still showing prepaid plans for BB).

Thanks
Arvind

The phone may be locked to another carrier. If it is Airtel cannot offer service.
If it was an Airtel connected device previously it should work.
In most cases the Blackberry phones require a Blackberry data plan from the carrier to use any type of data. It may be the recharge fails because the carrier has not allowed data on your service.
You might ask your carrier contact about basic requirements for Blackberry service.
