Default Simcar not found

Please Login to Remove!

hi guys, i have read so many threads about this but i couldnt find an answer to my question.
basically when i put in a working sim card and phone boots up, it says "sim card not found", the blackberry i bought is definitely unlocked, even when i use the carrier's sim card it still wont read the sim card.

i dont know the full history of this phone but it might have been water damage... all functionalities work fine, why the sim card? i even called the carrier to get the imei checked out, all clean.

could it be hardware fault, if so how do i go about fixing it?

Could have been hardware/water damage.
Could be a SIM card that device does not like.
I've seen SIM cards that worked in my 8310, not work in my 9000 or my 8700, but work in my 9500. So swap the SIM card for a new one, before you do anything more drastic.

You have a bad device then.

Have you tried cleaning the device where the SIM gold contacts come to touch the SIM card? Use a DROP of isopropyl alcohol on a cotton que tip, and try to clean them. Blow it slightly to dry with a hair dryer, insert the SIM and try again.

I bet you just have a bad device.
