Default 9700 Music Shortcuts - please contribute

Please Login to Remove!

Please post any known Music shortcuts in this thread and I will update the tips. Unlike other devices (new Pearl) there are not dedicated music keys so I am trying to discover them.

Pause or resume a song or video Space key
Next song in a category N
Previous song in a category P

If you are using a headset, to turn on the audio boost feature to amplify the volume for songs, ring tones, and videos, press the Volume Up key until you reach the highest volume setting, and then press the Volume Up key four times quickly

Lets keep this to music and not pictures for now.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Curve 8900)

I know that holding the Volume Up key will skip to the next song, and the Volume Down key the previous song.

Of course there is the Mute key (upper convenience key - opposite the lock key) that, when in a multimedia application, serves as a Play/Pause key.

So... when the volume buttons on the phone control next or previous song (in Pandora), how do you control the volume? It's driving me nuts <g>

Funny... That's what I thought I was doing <g> (just tapping it). Maybe I'm tapping it "too long". Just tried tapping it for a shorter time. Works! And tapping it a bit longer makes it go to the next song. Interesting use of the volume buttons... Thanks!

On my old 8320 Curve, the mute button would play/pause music even if I was not in the media player. Now it seems to only put the 9700 into standby. Is there a a way to make it like was with the curve?

Thanks!

abaldini - your mute button is on the right side. The left side button is the standby button.

Ok, here's one issue that I HATE! Let me know if any versions have fixed this. I listen to Howard Stern on my built-in BB media player. I go to my night class and hit the pause convenience key, opposite the lock on top. After a call comes in, the media player starts up on its own, blasting Stern to the entire class. This has happened a few times, in work meetings as well.

Anyone know how to split up the phone and media player app? Songs or mp3's start up after a call is missed or complete, and I don't get it! Currently running
v5.0.0.680, B-1149, P-5.1.0.160; upgrading today though.

Thanks,
Camdog

this no longer works under os 6 when ur bb is holstered or locked and drives me nuts
and u cannot increase or decrease ur in-call volume either if ur unit is holstered which defeats the purpose of having those keys there.

and what was good about these volume controls (when they worked under OS 5) was that various apps used them in different ways. for example tunewiki let u not only increase or decrease the volume, but if u hold down a key it would let you skip to the next or the previous streaming radio station that you had saved in your favourite. that was very nice cause u didn't have to take out your phone to change the station (all while the phone is holstered or locked)

But i really do wish they would fix them or some1 let me know how to enable them...pleeeaaasssee.

I hate that too. I don't know why would they lock the volume keys when the phone is locked. That worked perfectly fine in 5.0.. They just decide they want to lock them in 6.0

I wonder if this is hardware issue or software.. Maybe on native 6.0 devices side buttons are not part of keyboard? Who knows..
