Default BES Activation Issue

Please Login to Remove!

I have an issue where a new Bold will not activate properly, I've tried everything I can think of. (Resetting BB, wiping handheld, delete user re-add and then re-activate, delete service books and resend them, etc.)

The issue is that when activating it gets to the Desktop Service screen where all of the services are listed, a % is never shown, it just displays Calendar Complete and stays there. I end up having to cancel the activation as it just never shows anything else. The funny thing is though that email and calendar will sync, and the only thing not working is the Contacts syncing. Then if you go into the contacts option wireless sync is "NOT AVAILABLE", because the activation didn't finish.

Anyone have any ideas? The activation never finishing is the main issue, but if I could just get the contact sync working it would at least be ok for now.

Seeing as that portion is controlled by the Sync service, try restarting it on the BES if you haven't. Might as well do the Policy service as well.

Is there anything different about this user?

Stupid, stupid, stupid...the sync service was in a stop state...started and it is working now. Thanks for the push in the right direction!

Well I would suggest that if you have done all that was said in the first post, that you restart your BES and then try again and see.

Before restarting the BES check this:

1. Open your address book on the BB
2. Click the menu key/trackball and go to Options
3. Make sure that Wireless Sync is set to Yes, if not change it and save it

If you do not have the wireless sync option I would delete the Desktop[SYNC] service book and resend it from the BES.

Also make sure that wireless sync is not disabled for the address book on the BES.

What version of BES? What messaging platform?
Can you provide some specific details about your environment?

No, it doesn't.
In fact, you don't even have an activation issue so you should probably start your own thread.
