Does the device still work, or does it restart again?

What firmware are you running? Go to Options>About. It should read 4.6.0.xxx. If it's .167, you need to update your firmware. .167 was always a little buggy.

It really is not that hard to wipe and reinstall.
1. First back up you blackberry using Desktop Manager.
2. Download the latest os.
3. Double click on loader.exe
4. loader.exe should automatically backup and restore everything, but if it doesn't go back to desktop manager and restore the data.

or

1.Backup device using desktop manager.
2. Go to options > advanced > wireless upgrade. (this only works if you are not on the latest ATT released OS)

Well something got corrupted and I'm getting an error message on bootup "Java.Lang.NullPointerException".

It is effecting my message box, mail is not pushing through.

I've checked the tech forums, AT&T tech support is closed for the night. Tried downloading the new OS from blackberry, but when I connect the unit to the computer and run the blackberry desktop software I can not back up my blackberry and I get a fatal error when I try to upgrade the OS which is supposed to automatically back up data as part of the process.

HELP, how do I get the software to to upgrade. An OS re-install is supposed to be the fix for this error.

And yes, I pulled the battery numerous times.
