Default AT&T sim with unlocked Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to use my AT&T sim in a Rogers unlocked Bold but it says SIM CARD NOT FOUND. Are they not compatible?

Thank you in advance for advice/help.

Are you sure the Bold is unlocked?
Are you sure the AT&T SIM is good, and installed properly?

I purchased it as UNLOCKED and I removed the sim from my AT&T Curve where it was (and is) working fine.

This is my first time trying this so I'm sure it could be pilot error on my part, I'm just not sure what I could be doing wrong wrong.

Well, just because someone said it's unlocked doesn't mean it is.
Not sure if this works on the Bold but try this:

Sorry about that. I would contact the seller and see if they can do anything for you since you basically paid for something that you didn't receive.

Not at all... you'll just have to buy an unlock code from a reputable unlock vendor.

I bought a Rogers Bold last week and unlocked it and encountered the same problem. I ended up returning mine to Rogers.

I called Rogers and they tell me the wont ship any phone to the US. I was wondering if you lived in the USA? And if so how did you get then to ship the phone to you?

And what about warranty work for all the Americans that had to buy the Bold from Rogers due to Rim giving the US the cold shoulder Thanks AT&T they should go into business with Bill Gates and his team.

I have a Rogers Bold which I had someone from Canada pickup for me and he also unlocked it. Not sure which method he used but whatever it was I had no problem at all! My AT&T sim worked perfectly as soon as I turned it on.

Rogers won't ship direct outside Canada to the US because of contract issues since AT&T and T Mobile have the US market. No doubt RIM, AT&T and T Mobile would be after them, lawsuits in hand, (and probably the loss of their distributorship from RIM) if they sold direct to anyone in the US! Private citizens on the other hand are completely different. They can do what they want after they buy - that's basically a resale market.

The best way to unlock is with horizon wireless, they are one of the sponsors here and they give a discount to us. They are very quick and will hand hold you through the process. Check out the sponsors page or find John Clarks signature with a link to click on.

I live in the US and drove 3 hours to Canada to get one.

I'm having the same issue as the above poster. I bought an unlocked 9000 to use on AT&T. I got the phone and everything worked fine for about two weeks, then all of a sudden it said Insert SIM Card. I tried the original Rogers SIM that came in the box and it says Initialization Failed, so I know it is reading the SIM card.

Unfortunately Rogers is not being so helpful with me. The seller agreed to take it back to Rogers, but Rogers is telling him they won't let him return it because their SIM works just fine.

I have confirmed that it is unlocked on the SIM screen.

Try another sim from a working At&t account. It sounds like your sim is bad?

I've tried 5 different working AT&T SIMs, none of them work. To add a little more detail, a friend has an unlocked 9000 from Rogers as well, my SIM works fine in his phone.

Here is the full detail of all that has happened.

1. Bought the phone, was using an iPhone 3g.
2. Got phone in mail and unlocked myself.
3. Put my SIM card, activated my Blackberry account, and all worked well
4. Swapped the SIM to my iPhone 3g just to see if it would work (for occasional weekend use), this worked fine, all except visual voicemail.
5. Put SIM back in 9000 and used for 2 weeks
6. Took SIM out and used iPhone for a weekend
7. Put SIM back in 9000 and received SIM card error
8. Tried 5 co-worker AT&T SIMs and none worked
9. Tried the Rogers unactivated SIM and it gave the Initialization Failed error instead of the Insert SIM error, so SIM reader was working
10. Tried my SIM in my iPhone and it works. Tried my SIM in a co-workers unlocked Rogers 9000 and it works.
11. Verified that my 9000 is indeed still unlocked
12. Reloaded the latest blackberry software and reformated
13. Rogers and RIM both tell me to shove it.
14. I told RIM this is the last blackberry i'll ever own. I've owned over a dozen of them, but if they don't stand behind their product more than this then i'm done.

Still no joy.
