Thats probably one area where there would be room for them to save costs compared with an 8900, I wouldn't be surprised to see it matching the 8300s and having either wifi or gps depending on the carrier.

That does actually fit with the idea of the device being an upgrade for the 8300 curves rather than a new premium product, as does the lack of a flash on the camera as pointed out on that crackberry link.

One thing that is quite interesting is how the media buttons tend to demonstrate that all these people/blogs claiming rumours as facts and/or insider knowledge are at best seeing specification documents that may or not be finalised since the most distinctive parts of that device are the trackball and media buttons.

I'm looking forward to the release of the Gemini personally! Looks a cracking Blackberry as well as a proper attempt at trying to hone it in someway (i.e. the inclusion of the media buttons, rubberized body etc) that makes it look as if it's designed for something in particular.

Can't wait til i can ditch my 9500 Storm and 9000 Bold for the 9630 Tour and 8520 Gemini

Good times a-coming!

Exclamation

No 3G = EPIC FAIL!

I was already planning to hit-up Cricket Wireless for a 3G USB modem at the end of the month when they finally launch their service in the D.C./Baltimore market, because Cricket's monthly unlimited service is so much cheaper than everyone else's ($40 versus $60-80 with everyone else, including T-Mo!) and because I'm so tired of waiting for T-Mobile and RIM to get their acts together and release a 3G BlackBerry. And at the rate they're going, it looks like I'll NEVER get to use T-Mo's long-awaited 3G network! Way to go, T-Mo!

(Just for clarification, my main use for the 3G service would be to use my as a tethered modem for my laptop, because I know that the service will have less of an effect on web browsing speed from the BlackBerry than you would think. But again, T-Mo and RIM seem to want to take forever and a year to release a 3G BB! Hell, the Sidekick LX 2009 is already out with 3G as of last month, and still no 3G BB for T-Mo? WEAK! )

I'd still rather have the 9630, this thing just doesn't make sense. It reminds me of electronic music producers that just keep pumping out tracks and waits to see which one takes off instead of just making a handful of really well produced tracks.

So at one end of the spectrum we have the 8900 and at the other end, the 9000. Just after the 8900 comes this, the 8500, and just after that comes the 9600. They should have never made the 8900 or this(8500) and should have just made the 9600 with an optical trackball.

Are you listening RIM?
